University Of North Alabama's Writer's Series Welcomes The Passage Author, Justin Cronin

Bryan Rachal, University Communications FLORENCE, Ala. - The University of North Alabama Department of English will welcome author Justin Cronin as the featured guest of the 2016 Writer's Series. Cronin, whose works includes best-selling novels The Passage and The Twelve, will read from his works, March 10, at 11 a.m., in the GUC performance Center. A book signing and reception will follow. As mentioned, Cronin has seen much critical success with his two recent novels, with the third, The House of Mirrors, coming in May to complete the trilogy. The Passage debuted at No. 3 on The New York Times Bestseller List and has sold over a million copies, while The New York Times Book Review said The Twelve is a literary super thriller. A worldwide read of The Passage will start March 21. A graduate of Harvard and the Iowa Writer's Workshop, Cronin is a recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship. He won the Whiting Writer's Award in 2002, and both the Hemingway Foundation/PEN Award for First Fiction in 2001 and the Stephen Crane Prize for Mary and O'Neil in 2002. Cronin, who lives with his family in Houston, Texas, taught Creative Writing for many years at Rice University.
